Cars, canvases, parades, and more holiday events coming to Pleasanton throughout November

Holiday happenings are in full swing here in Pleasanton and the Tri-Valley with events revving into high gear this month. Weekends on Main kick off this weekend with a Downtown Pleasanton Sidewalk Sale from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 5.

This is a perfect opportunity to support our local business community and take care of some early gift shopping! Merchants will have sales, dining, and other outdoor options taking place Saturday.

Also, the annual Veterans Day Parade will be taking this weekend, on Sunday Nov. 6. Merchants are being asked to limit their outdoor seating and other activities to parking stall spaces on this day to leave room for parade participants. The parade will take place from 1-2:30 p.m.

Throughout fall, First Weekends on Main will begin at 3 p.m. on Fridays and end at 9 p.m. on Sundays. And if that’s not enough to get you excited about a visit to Northern California, check out these other regional events:

Goodguys are back in town

The Goodguys’ 32nd Autumn Get-Together is a must-do for motorheads. The car show will take place over Veterans Day weekend at the Alameda County Fairgrounds, 4501 Pleasanton Ave., Pleasanton, from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 12-13.

Hot rod and classic car fans won’t want to miss this annual tradition. Check out more than 2,500 American-made or powered rods, customs, classics, muscle cars, and trucks of all years, as well as the Autocross series “Fall” Shootout presented by Turn One, a Nitro Thunderfest Dragster Exhibition, Burn Out Competition, Smash 4 Cash Demo Derby, swap meet and Cars 4 Sale Corral, live music, and more.

Our veterans will get $5 off their tickets with valid military ID at the gate.

If you want to see even more vehicles over Veterans Day weekend, it’s a short drive to the Veterans Memorial Building in Danville. There will be a pop-up veterans exhibit plus a UH-1 Huey Helicopter and Fighter Jet Cockpit from the USS Hornet Museum will be parked outside.

Strike up the band

From 1:30-3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 6, the Pleasanton Community Concert Band will pay tribute to those who have served our country in a special Veterans Day concert at the Veterans Memorial Building downtown, 301 Main St., Pleasanton. Join us for this moving patriotic performance.

Stroll, sip, and see art

Fine arts aficionados will be delighted by the display at the Pleasanton Art League’s 15th Annual Fall Members’ Show at the Firehouse Arts Center, 4444 Railroad Avenue P, Pleasanton.

This show runs through Dec. 17 and the venue is just a six-minute walk from the hotel. Make a leisurely day of it with a brunch or lunch beforehand, a stroll downtown, and a glass of wine afterward at one of our many bars, cafés or restaurants along Main Street. Gallery hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Wednesday-Friday and 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturdays.

Watch a living legend

Nine-time Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter and musician Jose Feliciano, famous for his beloved version of Feliz Navidad, among many other songs, will perform his greatest hits at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 18, at the Bankhead Theater, 2400 First St., Livermore. Get into the holiday spirit with this concert by a living legend!

Check the schedule for other great events at the Bankhead in November as well, including a Tribute to Count Basie & Duke Ellington, Chris Perondi’s Stunt Dog Experience, and Mania! A Tribute to the Beatles.

Burn off the bird on Turkey Day

If you’re in town for Thanksgiving, the 7th Annual Tri-Valley Turkey Burn on Nov. 24 is a fun way to join our community and help out.

This annual 5/10K walk, run or stroll sponsored by the Rotary Club of Pleasanton North benefits Tri-Valley Youth Programs. Last year, more than 2,100 people participated, and many dogs joined the fun, too. Non-perishable and non-expired donations will be accepted for Tri-Valley Haven. It’s at Ken Mercer Sports Park, 5800 Parkside Dr., Pleasanton.

Holiday favorites in the Tri-Valley

Also over Thanksgiving weekend, Danville will be kicking off its holiday season with the annual Lighting of the Old Oak Tree on Friday, Nov. 25 from 5-8:30 p.m.

A short week later join in the fun at Dublin’s Annual Holiday Tree Lighting at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 1 at the Dublin Civic Center. Enjoy live music, food trucks and multi-colored lights at Dublin’s very own Winter Wonderland.

The holiday traditions continue with Pleasanton’s Hometown Holiday Parade on Dec. 3. The annual Pleasanton tree-lighting will take place immediately afterward.
