Autumn brings favorite traditions to the Tri-Valley

As summer turns to fall, Northern California’s Tri-Valley region embraces the changing seasons, and the beautiful autumn weather. Those looking for an accessible vacation from the San Francisco Bay Area to a beautiful locale will find small town charm and a slower pace of life when they visit, especially in Pleasanton.

Pleasanton lives up to its name with a friendly, welcoming atmosphere and a variety of things to do. The small city is a great spot to explore all that the Tri-Valley has to offer, and travelers looking for accommodation will find all of us at the Rose Hotel ready to serve them.

While you’re here, the area has many exciting happenings to attend. Here are some of the top events for Tri-Valley visitors taking place in September and early October.

Not so trivial
Craft beer lovers can explore local offerings while competing for the highest trivia score at BottleTaps Presents Trivia Night at BottleTaps in Pleasanton every Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. The competitions are free to play, with gift cards and drinks available as prizes for the top three teams.

Food and drinks are also available for purchase, including three rotating flavors of tacos to mark the occasion of Taco Tuesday. The event is family-friendly, and dogs are allowed as well on the patio.

Wine and song
No trip to the Tri-Valley’s wine country would be complete without exploring the vineyards, and Fun Fridays at Wood Family Vineyards in Livermore are an excellent opportunity to check out local wine culture. Taking place every Friday from 5 to 8 p.m., the vineyard comes alive with live music, food and Wood Family wine. The event is free to attend, with wine and food available for purchase while enjoying live music in a scenic vineyard setting.

Dogs on parade
On Saturday, Sept. 14 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., the annual Corgi Con returns to Pleasanton’s Alameda County Fairgrounds. Corgis, their owners and admirers descend on the fairgrounds for a day of furry fun.

Corgi Con includes a costume contest, an obstacle course and a corgi race. Tickets are available in advance on the Alameda County Fairgrounds website for this gathering of fluff balls and cost $5.55 for children and $11.10 for adults. Parking is $15 and available separately.

Splatter returns
Mustache HarborDublin’s annual Splatter festival is returning to the city’s Emerald Glen Park on Saturday, Sept. 14 from 12 to 8:30 p.m. This arts and crafts festival features a wide range of craft goods available from cultures around the world for sale, with live music and dance performances taking place throughout the day as well. A drone show finishes off the day by lighting up the night.

Local beer and wine are on offer, along with food options representing regions worldwide. Carnival rides and games add an extra option of entertaining fun for everyone at this free to attend event.

Music in the trees
Livermore’s Purple Orchid Wine Country Resort & Spa annual summer Music In The Orchard series closes out its 2024 run on Thursday, Sept. 26 from 6 to 9 p.m. with bluegrass band Crawdad Republic.

Attendees can sample drinks and food for purchase, including wine from nearby Nottingham Cellars and beer from local breweries, while taking in the concert under scenic olive trees at Purple Orchid. Tickets are available for $25 per person online.
