Founded in 1894, the city's agricultural history is evident on Main Street in downtown Pleasanton. While the fields of hops and roses are gone, century old buildings have escaped gentrification yielding a feeling of genuineness. The Museum on Main presents a panorama of Pleasanton circa 1850's. With a current population exceeding 70,000, the City has evolved into a modern Research and Development center for the medical, dental, pharmaceutical and computer business sectors.

Business Parks are close by for business travelers and recreational facilities abound for both business and leisure guests. Business venues include Hacienda Business Park , Koll Center and Bishop Ranch, with Silicon Valley and San Francisco less than an hour away. Medical devices, pharmaceuticals, dental equipment, computer software and hardware are prevalent business sectors.

A moderate climate lends itself to multiple leisure activities include golf, winery tours, hiking on the ridge, horseback riding, and strolling on Main Street. Shopping is available in boutique shops and at the Stoneridge Mall. Soon to be opened, the Firehouse Performing Arts center will offer both professional artists and performances by local amateurs.
