It’s movie season at The Rose Hotel

February 27, 2015

Rose Hotel guests tend to be active people with full schedules during their visits. But like so many other people they often like to finish the night with a good movie. This is why all Rose Hotel guest rooms come equipped with a DVD player and our movie library is stocked with about 150 titles. It’s movie season, as Golden Globes and Oscars have been handed out to writers, actors, directors, producers and other moviemakers. That always encourages us to take a fresh look at … (click on the headline to continue reading).

Spending your Valentine’s Day in ‘captivity’

February 09, 2015

We have learned from breeding programs at zoos that animals do not love and breed well in captivity. How ironic that people seek captivity on Valentine’s Day to rekindle their love and affection. That captivity can be as simple as a private dinner, or as elaborate as a couples vacation or staycation at a romantic hotel. We know this well because Valentine’s Day is one of our busiest holidays at The Rose Hotel. Our rooms for this coming Valentine’s Day weekend have been sold out for weeks. Although we hardly consider our hotel a place of “captivity” it’s obvious to us why loving couples find us so irresistible. It is easy to find that precious alone-time at The Rose, either in our luxurious rooms, our quiet lobby, nearby restaurants or a simple stroll down the historic Main Street running perpendicular to our front door. We do plenty to facilitate that loving feeling with our year-round Romance Package, which includes … (click the headline to continue reading)

Resolving to make the most out of your travels during 2015

January 22, 2015

As we move into the latter half of January, we are reminded that this is the time of year when our resolutions tend to quaver as our willpower sometimes fails us. This might be because our resolutions are difficult and unpleasant tasks, such as losing weight. We would do well to include pleasurable goals in our New Year’s resolutions. If you’re reading this article then you’re probably a traveler, and you know that travel is one of the most pleasurable human endeavors. Travelers also make resolutions, or at least they’re encouraged to make resolutions. One of the publications that weighed in on this topic is Condé Nast Traveler. It has some smart ideas and interesting travelers we thought wise to share with you. Whatever your travel preferences, we hope you will set some time and money aside this year to do some pleasurable traveling —  maybe even the kind of traveling that challenges your habits and takes you (literally and figuratively) into some new territory. These suggestions from Condé Nast Traveler on how to make the most of your 2015 travels might just energize you and fill you with a renewed zest for travel and some fresh ideas … (click on the headline to continue reading)

Checking into the hotel business and the economy

January 10, 2015

Our business and leisure travelers alike have a lot at stake when it comes to the U.S. and world economies. So do we. One of industries hit hardest by economic downturns is the hotel business, and sometimes we’re an early indicator that trouble is brewing. Given this shared interest, we are very pleased to report that 2014 was a record year for occupancy at The Rose Hotel. What’s more, PKF Consulting, a hospitality industry research firm, is forecasting more good times ahead. That almost certainly means good tidings for the economy as well. But the financials are only part of the story at our hotel. In addition to the quantitative, we pay a lot of attention to the qualitative. We are also gratified by the positive guest comments we continually receive on TripAdvisor and other notable sites. Based on our guest comments we know … (click on the headline to continue reading)

Holiday season has returned, and the spirit is moving us

December 18, 2014

All one need do is to walk into The Rose Hotel lobby to find out that we take the holiday season very seriously. The exterior and lobby of the hotel are festooned with decorations of the season. Suffice it to say, we are definitely in the Christmas spirit. The holiday season is a time when our guests are very active, and that means we are too. It’s a time when people celebrate for both religious and secular reason, and look back on the year that was, as well as forward to the year to come with great anticipation — and so do we. As our 13th year of operation comes to a close, we are reminded of … (click on the headline to continue reading)
