Shop ’til you drop with 150 new retailers

Among the embarrassment of riches that surround The Rose Hotel is the most convenient and quaint shopping experience imaginable.

Right here on Main Street in Pleasanton, California – right outside the hotel’s front doors – are the historic downtown retail shops that give this community its character.

Now, life is getting even better for Rose Hotel guests who like to shop. In the neighboring City of Livermore, home to more than 40 wineries, a massive new shopping center is nearing construction.

The Paragon Outlet Center covers 59 acres and will be home to about 150 retailers occupying 550,000 square feet. The new shopping center is off to a good start, having already received commitments from retailers Nieman Marcus, Brooks Brothers, Tommy Hilfiger, Lancome, Guess Factory Store, J. Crew, and Barneys New York.

Baltimore-based Paragon Outlet Partners LLC is expected to get construction underway this year, and the center is scheduled to open for business in time for the 2012 holiday shopping season.

The center will be located on El Charro road, just off the heavily trafficked I-580 freeway.

Paragon Outlet Partners is promising its new Livermore Valley outlet center will place a great deal of emphasis on architecture, calling its proposed design “cutting-edge” in the California Bungalow or Craftsman-style tradition of the San Francisco Bay Area.

The development firm’s website says: “This architecture will integrate recognizable characteristics such as low-pitched roofs with wide overhangs, decorative beam extensions, tapered columns and a combination of materials such as stucco, stone, shingles and clapboard painted in a muted palette of arts-and-crafts-style colors.”

Paragon Outlet Partners says it’s succeeding in a tough retail market by adhering to these principles:

  • A clear understanding of its core customers
  • Building in communities with strong demographics
  • Selecting locations with high visibility and easy access from major roadways
  • Offering compelling value in a boutique shopping environment
  • Partnering with the most sought-after retailers in the business
  • Staying attuned to changing consumer tastes

Kelvin Antill, one of the partners at Paragon Outlet, was quoted in the Livermore newspaper The Independent saying, “We look forward to creating more shopping opportunities for the area.”

Paragon’s approach to serving its customer base includes operating motor coaches to bring shoppers to its retail centers.

For our guests’ convenience, it is our intent to make sure the motor coaches make regular stops at The Rose Hotel.
