Young, female inventors lead us forward

When most of us think of patents we think of powerhouse companies such as IBM, Google, GE and Proctor & Gamble. Though the vast majority of patents go to companies, individual inventors also earn patents, and occasionally those inventors can be surprisingly young and ingenious. Enter two school girls who live in Pleasanton, Calif., home to The Rose Hotel. Sisters Fiona and Orla Lamont invented and patented a product they hope will sell to homes, food and packaging industries, laboratories and police departments. Here is their story…
